ABOUT BIRDROCK STUDIO.

Birdrock Studio is a boutique interior design practice based on the Mornington Peninsula, working with homeowners across Melbourne, Bayside, and greater Victoria.

Led by interior designer Liz Kuehne, we specialise in residential interiors, renovations, kitchen and bathroom design, and new builds.

We create spaces that feel warm, intentional and deeply personal.

Design That Feels Like Home.

At Birdrock Studio, we believe the most successful interiors are ones that reflect the people who live in them.

Every project begins with understanding how you live, what matters to you, and how your space can better support your lifestyle.

Our designs are guided by:

  • Functionality and flow

  • A deep sense of place

  • Timeless, thoughtful materiality

  • Layered, textural palettes inspired by our surrounds

  • A strong belief in creating homes that feel lived in, not styled for a magazine.

We're known for being collaborative, transparent, and a little bit obsessed with the details - from custom joinery design to sourcing the perfect pendant.

hi, i’m LIZ.

birdrock studio’s founder & interior designer

Back when Mount Martha was just a sleepy coastal hamlet, you’d find me fossicking on South Beach, collecting shells like buried treasure and building sandcastles. Summers meant salty skin and sticky ice-cream fingers; winters were all log fires and board games. It’s safe to say I’ve always been a little bit obsessed with home on the Mornington Peninsula — and the feeling of being truly at ease in a space.

My career has taken a few scenic routes - through Visual Merchandising, Fashion Design, Retail Buying and Styling, but it all came full circle when I returned to my roots and launched Birdrock Studio in 2021. Interior design was always the end game, and I finally jumped in, heart first.

These days, I bring together a love of colour, texture, scale and functionality to create homes that feel considered, soulful and 100% livable. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design, and a Diploma of Interior Design, and was proud to be named Victorian Graduate of the Year by the Design Institute of Australia in 2021.

When I’m not knee-deep in floor plans or tile samples, you’ll find me adventuring around the Mornington Peninsula with my husband and daughter — most likely with a chai or a glass of local Pinot in hand.
